ARISE

How I work & what are the ARISE Values?

‘It is the client who knows what hurts, what direction to go, what problems are crucial, what experience have been deeply buried.’ Carl Rogers

My beliefs of being trustworthy and autonomous have developed through my work experience as I respect the clients’ right to be self-leading. I make sure that in my work I am just, by being fair and impartial to all my clients. This is intertwined with the principles of the BACP standards.

I am an empathetic individual who is also an active listener, with a strong foundation in psychodynamics and Person centred approach. I take a relational approach to developing people through professional support. I offer a non-judgemental and a confidential space for clients to explore difficult feelings and possibilities of different ways of being. I aim to empower clients by highlighting moments of choice when it may have been hidden. Throughout my training and practice I have adopted many counselling skills. One of the most effective skills I believe I have is being in the moment with my clients and bracketing off issues/matters that are not related to the session. I am committed to connect and help my clients ARISE to their optimum potential and provide them with tools and ability to fight back anything that brings them down.

Authentic-

At ARISE counselling & psychotherapy it is a core belief of mine to be authentic with my clients by being truthful and showing integrity.

Relational –

One of my core understandings and beliefs is that a strong therapeutic relationship must develop for the therapy to work. I believe, as a counsellor, it is my duty to help the client build that rapport, through actively listening, understanding, accepting, and respecting confidentiality. Only then a trustworthy therapeutic relation can be formed.

Integrative –

Taking an integrative approach in counselling and psychotherapy means to integrate different counselling styles, so therapy can match each individual client’s specific needs. The Approaches I take are: Person centred approach, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Cognitive behavioural therapy, SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy), Transactional analysis. Long term psychotherapy.

Spiritual –

Being a spiritual person does not mean that counselling will not work for you. In fact, some religions have moulded the therapy world. Likewise, working in a spiritual way does not mean you have to be a religious person or believe in a religion. Different styles of mindfulness can be found in many different religions and spiritual ways of healing. Being a practising Muslim myself, I find my moment of mindfulness in my 5 daily prayers and there are other religious practices that hold the same sort of healing power.

Ethical –

I work within the ethical framework of BACP that are based on values, principles and personal moral qualities that underpin and inform the interpretation and application of my commitment to clients and good practice.
